A really feel-good movie…Dan In Real Life

I am Legend FilmI watched “Dan In Real Life” at the cinema recently and have to say that it was one of those movies that makes you feel all happy inside, all the way through. The main character, single-father Dan ends up visiting his parents and thinks he’s met ‘The One’ whilst in a local bookshop. However, on arriving back at his parent’s house, his brother turns up with the same woman. Prepare yourself for lots of laughs as the family dilemmas begin in this winter comedy and make sure you see it with your boyfriend because you’ll be needing a nice big hug after this one! 4/5 from me!

You are a legend.

I am Legend FilmCasting Will Smith as the lone survivor in New York’s virus ravaged landscape was a good decision after all in the recent release of “I Am Legend”. I wasn’t sure if I could take his usual comical character seriously for this role, but he pulled it off. As a military doctor fighting to find a cure for a virus which either killed or turned the population into mutated zombies with a hunger for flesh, Smith lives life with his dog as man’s best friend.

It’s a great film and one that makes you really think about life well after the credits have rolled. They’ve managed to turn the book into a movie in a non B-movie style which I was pleased about, I also loved the post-production cgi put into it, turning manhatten’s streets into deer roaming grass laden fields. Oh and I love the mustang in the opening sequence. 4/5.
You can rent this film today from lovefilm.com .

Love film? yeah!

I was sceptical about these monthly dvd rental offers, but I got suckered in took the plunge goin for one of
Lovefilm.com’s
2 week trials, starting off with Die Hard 4.0, I wasn’t too sure if there needed to be a fourth Die Hard but they pulled it off and it looked great on the small screen. I popped the dvd back in the post to lovefilm ( no late fee’s by the way ) and then completely forgot about the week and half I had left on the trial. Never the less I ended up taking the £9.99 a month contract, which gives you unlimited dvd’s a a month but you can only have 1 at a time. On average at the moment I “rent” 2-3 discs a month, which works out cheaper than going down to blockbuster. Start renting today here.

I’d have to recommend lovefilm.com really, the dvd’s arrive within 2 days, they always play and you don’t pay any postage. 4/5 Stars.

Best i’ve seen for a while

Stardust MoviePete here - from time to time I like to highjack rach’s blog and write about films i’ve seen recently, as such I watched ‘Stardust’ the other night and here’s my thoughts. 8 out of 10, loved it really. Ricky Gervais has a great cameo role in it and basically plays himself as always, with no character change at all. Robert De Niro is hilarious playing a pirate captain with a fetish for dressing up in women’s clothing and Michelle Pfeiffer plays an excellent witch! I think i’ll be buying this one on DVD when it comes out.
